Diner’s Agenda: Dire Straits

Now Diner’s Agenda is singing “Romeo and Juliet.”

Friday, July 13
•Let’s face it. Friday night isn’t usually your most highbrow evening of the week. Why not try something new this weekend? Add a little literature to your louche life at the Dire Series Literary BBQ at 6:00 at Cambridge’s Out of the Blue Gallery. A donation of $5-7 gets you food from the grill, music, and a reading. Saturday, July 14
•The beer is coming! The beer is coming! Okay, that was a terrible intro, but bear with us. The email we received from The Fireplace assured us that “Paul Revere rides again” from 3:00-4:30. It seems there will be a tasting of Sam Adams beers paired with favorite foods from colonial times. Also, a fife and drum. All in all, it promises to be quite something. Tickets, which cost $30, may be reserved by calling (617) 975-1900. [The Fireplace]

Sunday, July 15
•We know, we know. You’re so excited for Boston Restaurant Week that you can barely breathe. Since it’s still three weeks away, however, why not satisfy your well-priced meal needs with a trip to Rhode Island for Providence Restaurant week? Three course lunches are a mere $12.95 and dinners a piddling $29.95 from Sunday through Saturday, July 21. [Restaurant Review]
