There’s a baking competition today, sponsored by Murray’s Sugar Free Cookies, with a catch - no sugar allowed.
Do you remember when people were making fat free desserts, and overloading on the sugars to make up for the lost savoriness? Well, the dietetic Zeitgeist (trademark pending) has shifted enough in the past decade for this competition to be both rational and appealing. People eat too much sugar! They also eat too much fat. The logical extension is a competition for the best fat free, sugar free, organic raw vegan dessert. Maybe…cold-brewed tea popsicle? Anyway, participants in today’s event include several of Chicago’s finest bakers: Naomi Levine of TipsyCake, Cathy Miller of May Street Market and Lori Parrett of Cakewalk Chicago. Good look to all involved, and may the best artificial sweetener win!
