We were all excited when we got word of a Sicilian wine dinner at Vinci tonight, because we thought we could tie it into the finale of the Sopranos. Then it turns out that the Sopranos are Neapolitan, not Sicilian; bully for them, but doesn’t do us any good. On the other hand, we got half a paragraph out of it anyway, so everybody wins. Especially you, if you go to the dinner (what a segue!): it’s a four course dinner paired with three wines from Donnafugata (no, no dessert wine for you), starting at 7pm for $45 plus tax & tip. In a nice twist, Vinci’s actually offering the evening’s menu on their website. Take, eat, enjoy:
ANTIPASTO ALLA FAMIGLIA
Marinated Swordfish with vegetables, lemon, vinegar, olive oil
Anthìlia, Catarratto and Ansonica blend
PASTA ALLA FAMIGLIA
Linguine with broccoli sauce and aged pecorino
Sedára, Nero d’ Avola
SECONDO ALLA FAMIGLIA
Bistecca Sicilians breaded Sicilian style steak with roasted-fried potatoes
Tancredi, Nero d’Avola & Cabernet Sauvignon blend
DESSERT ALLA FAMIGLIA
Paul’s Aunt Tia’s Cannoli “1 time only”
Family is very important in Sicily, which is reflected in every course name. Pay the family what you owe them, smile graciously, and leave quickly.
