Chowhound brings news that Seth Woods and the Aquitaine Group (which would be kind of a great name for a band) have expansion plans going even beyond the much-ballyhooed Gaslight and Green Light. As a job posting on Star Chefs confirms, Woods and Co. are planning to open Prime 128 in September. The new restaurant will be a “modern steakhouse” seating 300. Although no specific location is given, the 128 would imply that the new spot will be in the suburbs rather than, say, the South End. For those of you keeping track at home, this means that by fall, the Aquitaine Group will encompass seven restaurants (Prime 128, Gaslight, Aquitaine, Aquitaine Bis, Union Bar & Grille , Metropolis Cafe, and Armani Cafe) and a prepared foods shop (Green Light).
Between Prime 128, Moo (the next incarnation of The Federalist, slated to open in late summer) and KO Prime, Boston will surely have no shortage of high end steakhouses, but do we really need so many? Will there be a steakhouse smackdown come fall? We can only dream.
