Dog-Friendly Bars In Philly

We’re dog people here. And the idea that Philly health codes prohibit you from bringing dogs into bars—it’s a heartbreaker. Most neighborhood bars in New York are dog-friendly, as are bars in Chicago, Toronto and a host of other cities. But there’s a loophole in Philly’s laws: Dogs are allowed in outdoor seating areas. That’s how Tavern 17 gets around it. Over at the Daily News, Joe Sixpack put together a guide to bars with dog-friendly outdoor seating. LeBus Manayunk (more restaurant-y, we know) gets a nod, as does good-for-after-the-museum London Grill, French bistro Caribou Cafe and, of course, the outdoor seating area at the White Dog Cafe. We also know of a few bars around town that will turn a blind eye to you bringing in the dog for a pint of two, but can’t name them (you know the drill). However, if you live around Center City or Bella Vista, you know where to go. Just sayin’.

Can we be a truly great city if we can’t have a brew with Rover? [Daily News]
