With the weather improving, it’s time to start thinking about road trips. Lancaster County is one of the closest destinations to suburban Philadelphia. Of course, it’s a foodie mecca. Shoo-fly pie, country ham, roast beef, apple dumplings… All that good stuff. The Lancaster County Pennsylvania Visitors Center is getting in the action with a 20-page Foodie’s Guide to Lancaster County [PDF]. The Visitors Center also put together a list of Pennsylvania Dutch culinary trails that includes local vineyards, diaries and breweries and a guide to local farmers markets. There are even local restaurants that offer kitchen tours as well. Although restaurants like Good N’ Plenty (pictured) and Miller’s Smorgasbord are a healthy drive away, we’re fans of Reading Market eateries like the Dutch Eating Place.
