A trek into the Tenderloin is no longer required to get your pho fix. Zadin has opened in Malacca’s old space in the Castro, near the corner of 18th and Hartford. The unique thing about Zadin–aside from its location–lies in its emphasis on Vietnamese food that has been reinvented as healthier and/or gluten-free. For example, owners Truc Tran and Bao Phan have a gluten-free fried calamari dish on the menu, in addition to using rice or egg noodles for all the pho dishes. Thus far, Zadin (specifically the lemongrass pork and fish rolls) has gotten rave reviews, both on our main site and elsewhere.
