This month’s issue of Boston Magazine contains a fascinating article about the power-breakfast scene in Boston. Although it’s fun to learn that, for example, Massachusetts Democratic Party head Phil Johnston eats at Parker’s every morning and that the location of the Bristol Lounge is just as much of a draw as the opulence, the article is a bit of a tease. We learn all about where power breakfasts happen, but not what is ordered. Author Seth Gitell contends that “Whatever else it’s really about, the power breakfast is almost never about the food”, but that seems a bit disingenuous. We really just want to know if Governor Patrick is a french toast or bagel kind of guy.
