The crew over at Serious Eats recently held a taste test of artisan potato chips. The competition? Kettle Chips’ Island Jerk (“flavored with cinnamon and cumin”), Seyfert’s Curlie Potato Chips ("bad oil taste”), Kettle Chips Aztec Chocolate ("kinda weird”), Kettle Classics Salt & Vinegar (“respectable marks and solid tanginess”), Kettle Chips Royal Indian Curry ("intriguing; but odd aftertaste”), Route 11 Sour Cream & Chive (“middle of the road”) and six others.
The admittedly Kettle Chips-heavy list omits any Philadelphia area chip manufacturers. We’re fans of our homegrown Rap Snacks (now including the new Lil Romeo Bar-B-Quin With Honey flavor) and of Lancaster County’s Good’s potato chips.
