Romaine Lettuce Is Making People Sick Again

Time truly is a flat circle. Last year, almost to the day, the FDA warned consumers to avoid romaine lettuce in the wake of a massive E. Coli outbreak that sickened more than 40 people across 12 states.

Now, the Times reports that there’s another outbreak that has affected 69 people in 19 states, 39 of whom were hospitalized. So far, there have been no fatalities, though six people experienced a form of kidney failure.

The tainted romaine seems to have originated from Salinas, California, so officials at the Centers for Disease Control are asking people not to consume any romaine products from that area, whether it’s the whole heads or chopped romaine in a salad mix. Last year’s outbreak also originated in Central California. We’re doomed to repeat the past!

So, say goodbye to your caesar salads this year and just stick to the green-bean casserole. Or just stick to those from our favorite trusted sources.
