Danny Meyer’s North End Grill will close at the end of this year, a rare shuttering for his Union Square Hospitality Group. It’s been a somewhat sputtering run for the Battery Park restaurant, which opened in 2012 and felt somewhat like the forgotten one in the USHG family of restaurants. The kitchen was originally run by Floyd Cardoz, who left for White Street and then opened Paowalla (now Bombay Bread Bread). He was succeeded by Eric Korsh, whose alleged misconduct and sexual harassment there was detailed in a report published last week. Until the restaurant closes, the kitchen will be run by Emily Brekke, who a USHG rep tells Eater will get to experiment with the menu.
