Once fairly niche, the online phenomenon of people helping you (ostensibly) relax by recording themselves slowly opening chip bags or biting into crunchy pickles has gone mainstream. It’s so popular, in fact, that there’s now a five-minute video of grade-schoolers “triggering” so-called ASMR.

Seasoned ASMR fans may need a second to warm up to some of their methods, but it turns out burps and food coming out of the mouth, however unorthodox, can still make your spine tingle.
