Patrick Stewart Declares Frank Pepe’s Pizza the ‘Best’ He’s Ever Eaten

Five years ago, Sir Patrick Stewart embarked on a remarkable journey. He ate his first slice of pizza, something he’d apparently forgotten to do during his life as one of the world’s greatest actors. The thespian has since become a true believer, admonishing those who don’t eat the crust, and even discovered the meaning (read: deliciousness) of chicken wings. As part of his ongoing education, apparently, Stewart and his wife, Sunny Ozell, paid homage this week at Frank Pepe’s in New Haven, which, according to anyone from New Haven, is the center of the pizza-verse.

Ozell ‘grammed the whole experience, including a photo of a very excited-looking Stewart eating his slice with a fork. Apparently unafraid to get into a food fight, Stewart proclaimed it “the best pizza he’d ever eaten” due to Pepe’s exceedingly good crust.

Ozell also writes that Stewart does not like Neapolitan pizza (shots fired), but Grub is nonetheless deeply disappointed that the couple did not make a pit stop for New Haven’s other delicacy: Bar’s mashed-potato pizza. Have to save something for the next trip, apparently.
