Yes, it’s already time to discuss fall restaurant openings! One to anticipate: Chicha, from chef Vanessa Palazio and her husband, Adam Schneider — the couple behind Little Muenster — and partner, Nathan Meshberg. The menu will focus on Nicaraguan street food (Palazio’s heritage), with dishes like Baho Quesillo: house-milled corn tortilla, quesillo, and Baho-style beef steamed with Toña beer, pickled onions, and crema; and Vegan Vigoron: snow-mushroom chicharrón, yucca, and curtido (a pickled-cabbage salad). It’ll open at 198 Randolph Street this fall — and with Ops, Sally Roots, and the new Bunker, Bushwick’s emerging as one of New York’s most exciting dining destinations.
