Co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield have been giving away free scoops since they launched their company in Vermont in 1979, and lately, the duo has made news for their political activism: protesting money in politics, donating proceeds from their Empower Mint flavor to Democracy Is in Your Hands, and speaking out against the Muslim ban. On their Free Cone Day website, they’re encouraging people to “dig deeper” and learn more about racial injustice. Hopefully, their activism — and a sugar rush — brings you some comfort today.
