Most people celebrate National Coffee “Day” about 365 times a year, but September 29 is technically the official observation of this totally made-up national food holiday. The obvious plus: Lots of places will let you caffeinate on the house this morning. Here are some of your options.
Krispy Kreme: Free coffee and glazed doughnut to literally anyone who shows up.
Dunkin’ Donuts: Get any medium hot coffee for 66 cents. (Presumably it’s not totally free because you’re also helping the chain celebrate its 66th birthday.)
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf: Anyone who downloads the chain’s new mobile app can get a free shot of espresso.
Dairy Queen: A small iced coffee is just $1, or get an Ultimate Frappe for $2.
Eataly: Free coffee with the purchase of any pastry at Caffé Lavazza.
LaMar’s Donuts: Buy LaMar’s 16-ounce collector’s travel mug for $1.19, and they’ll fill it up for free.
Le Pain Quotidien: A regular-size coffee is half off.
Peet’s Coffee: Free small drip coffee with the purchase of any food item.
Pilot Flying J: The truck-stop chain is offering a free small coffee or any similar hot drink, like a tea or cappuccino.
Sheetz: Customers with a registered My Sheetz card can get a free small cold brew.
WaWa: Serve yourself a free cup up to 24 ounces at any location.
Birch Coffee: Free drip coffee at all New York locations from 7 to 10 a.m.
Keurig: The National Coffee Day deal that can last all year long — 15 percent off “most” boxes of K-Cup pods, and 20 percent off any that are recyclable.
