All-Star Team Opening Italian Restaurant in the Lion’s Former Home

There’s certainly no shortage of great new Italian restaurants in New York right now, but, nevertheless, Casa Apicii sounds promising: The chef, Casey Lane, made a name for himself at the Tasting Kitchen in Los Angeles, which he still owns. Since he’s bicoastal, he’s tapped Adam Nadel, formerly of A Voce Columbus, as his executive chef. Fabio Raffaelli (Daniel, Del Posto) and the co-founder of Employees Only Dushan Zaric will oversee the cocktails, and Patrick Cormier (Locanda Verde) leads the front of house. The real appeal of the Lion was the space — the garden level of a 19th-century Greenwich Village townhouse — but Lane wants Casa Apicii to feel like a true neighborhood spot, so the food and the vibe will be more relaxed than its predecessor. It opens this Thursday, July 28. Take a look:
