July 2016 marks the end of The Four Seasons: The Major Food Group will take over the space, with a new concept and a new name, while Julian Niccolini and Alex von Bidder relocate the restaurant elsewhere in New York. This is such a huge deal that the James Beard Foundation has created an entire award in honor: the “Design Icon Restaurant Award.” To qualify, “a restaurant’s design must have remained unchanged for at least 20 years and must have influenced and inspired the design of subsequent restaurants.” In other words, it could’ve just been named “The Four Seasons Award.”
