For two days next week, beloved New York ramen institution Ippudo is combining its famed noodles with the most famous superheroes in all of comics: It's hosting an officially sanctioned Marvel Comics pop-up on Thursday and Friday evening at its West Side location on West 51st Street. On Wednesday, Marvel talent scout C.B. Cebulski teased Marvel and Ippudo fans with a vague tweet promising something was in the works, but the details finally have arrived courtesy of an Instagram post by Ippudo's New York operations manager, Yusuke Nakamura:
According to Nakamura, the pop-up will serve an "Avengers Interactive Ramen" created by chef Fumihiro Kanegae each day starting at 5 p.m. Kanegae says that, being a big Marvel superheros fan himself, he "carefully consider[ed] each character's powers and personalities in order to select the appropriate ingredients." Fans lucky enough to score a seat will also be getting a beverage pairing and a commemorative T-shirt designed by artist Matthew Waite, who's done everything from Deadpool to Avengers and Wolverine. There will only be 40 bowls per day, with no reservations allowed, and once it's all gone, it's gone. In other words, better start queuing for the line now.
