It’s been a long time coming, but Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt are ready to give their fans what they’ve always wanted: a new coffee roaster called Oakland Coffee Works. At last, you are no doubt thinking.

So, what sets their coffee apart? The packaging, mostly. From the brand’s official site: “Our commitment to sustainability also has lead to our role in developing coffee packaging products that are the first of their kind: a 12 ounce bag that is completely compostable- valve and all, as well as the world’s first 100% compostable single-serve cups.” The Financial Times explains this is possible because the packaging is made of “starches and sugars” so they’ll be “consumed by micro-organisms in the soil, creating a fertile humus” when they’re composted. (At this point, it’s unclear why the third member of Green Day, Tré Cool, isn’t involved in the project, but Grub has to assume it’s because he doesn’t like coffee, or the environment, or possibly both.)

Anyway, seems like there are worse things the band could be doing with their time. The single-serve pods aren’t available just yet — they’re aiming for next month — but if you want to grab a bag or two in the meantime, they’re $13 apiece and you can find them here.
