A 27-year-old and her family experienced pretty much the worst wedding nightmare: a phone call from her fiancé calling off the $35,000 affair at a four-star Sacramento hotel. Rather than just stress-eating all of the salmon and tri-tip already purchased for the 120 guests, though, Quinn Duane and her mother, Kari, resolved to “take away something good from this,” so they printed off new flyers announcing a “Fall Dinner Hosted by the Duane Family” in the hotel’s banquet hall and threw the city’s homeless a feast. Kari says she was nervous at first, with all these buffet trays and just one person there, but they apparently ended up with a happy bunch.
