Pope Francis is a supreme pontiff with soft spots for the food of the people, with pizza and pudding being two of his favorites. That means concocting edible swag to honor him on his first U.S. visit is a cinch — tossing a few yellow tomatoes onto a white pie is all it takes to have yourself a passable Vatican-themed pie.
Naturally, though, plenty of restaurants, bars, and breweries went next-level with their commemorative eats. Francis may give capitalism a thumbs-down, but Grub wants to think he’d still give these a try. At least, if he could — unfortunately, nervous Vatican doctors stuck their pudgy pope on a serious low-carb diet months ago.
