There’s a Petition to Stop José Andrés From Opening a Restaurant in a Donald Trump Hotel

The Donald thought it was a coup earlier this year when he scored José Andrés for his $200 million Trump International Hotel in D.C., saying the flagship restaurant would “live up to the unrivaled offerings of what will be one of the finest hotels anywhere in the world.” That’s of course before he called border-crossing Mexicans “rapists,” and now there’s mounting pressure on Andrés, who himself got U.S. citizenship in 2013, to ditch his plans.

A Change.org petition circulating says that the chef “embodies the American dream and is a huge role model for the Hispanic community,” which is precisely why Trump “is not someone he should do business with.” The petition is up to 1,300 signatures, but Andrés so far hasn’t directly responded, although he did tweet this:
