One month ago, following the devastation of the Second Avenue explosion, the French-fry institution announced plans to relocate to 128 Macdougal Street. But as a new crowd-funding campaign shows, 18-year-old shop Pommes Frites has a long way to go in its recovery. Owners Omer Shorshi and Suzanne Levinson are trying to raise $64,000 to cover the cost of replacing their equipment: “While we did have insurance, receiving a settlement is a slow-moving process — and what’s more, because Pommes Frites has been in operation so long, many of our assets will be considered fully or significantly depreciated,” Levinson writes. She also notes that she’s aiming for a fall opening — “just in time for frites weather.”
