Restaurant Realizes Too Late That a Caitlyn Jenner Menu Joke Was a Bad Idea

Tasteless.
Tasteless.

A Baltimore Mexican joint called Nacho Mama’s — that’s clearly prone to insult comedy — can put a check beside the “insult” box after trying out a Caitlyn Jenner joke on its specials page. The stab at humor consisted of Nacho Mama’s mascot (the Natty Boh guy wearing a sombrero) referencing the Vanity Fair cover by saying, “I guess Caitlyn Jenner will be the only Kardashian on a magazine cover with clothes on,” with an Austin Powers quote beneath it. One look at the restaurant’s Facebook and Yelp pages reveals it didn’t go over that well, of course.

Whoever this menu comedian is, he or she really thinks Jenner jokes are a riot: The page for May 14’s specials suggested a proper Deflate-gate punishment for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady would be “Dancing with the Stars w/ Bruce Jenner as his partner.”

Nacho Mama has scrubbed the Facebook post featuring the offending menu, but hasn’t apologized or even addressed the controversy outside of this terse statement: “Thank you for reaching out to us, the comment on the top of our Specials Menu has been removed.”

One reviewer on Facebook wrote that the food was great, but said she won’t be back because she saw a bartender showing a patron a picture of Jenner and saying “how gross it was.”
