Café Pick Me Up, a darling little coffeehouse in the East Village, is the latest New York institution to get pushed out because of a rent hike. “I don’t know who can afford that much rent,” manager Rossella Palazzo has said. (The Avenue A space is now listed for $15,000 per month.) The café, which has been in business for 20 years, will reportedly close by the end of May.
