There’s been a lot of talk about beloved Mars Bar reopening on Second Avenue, but it looks like the establishment will only live on in New Yorkers’ dreams. Last year, the Pink Elephant team pitched an unusual way to revive Mars Bar — a concept with a juice bar and café on the ground floor, and a bar in the basement. The latest news, though, is that the organic café (called, oddly enough, NatureEs) will open as planned, but instead of relaunching the bar downstairs, the underground space will become a spa. Perhaps this is a good outcome: The only thing worse than Mars Bar dying is having it relaunch as something with no resemblance to the original.
