Of the 300 Wahlburgers that are scheduled to take over the country, seven are coming to New York City, and it looks like the first one will open in Brooklyn. Entrepreneur John Cestare says he’s secured franchise rights from TV-friendly siblings Paul, Donnie, and Mark Wahlberg, and the Coney Island spot will debut May 1, where it will join an incoming Checkers, Johnny Rockets, and possibly a Burger-Fi near the beach. So far, no liquor license application has been filed in advance of the mini-chain’s bid to sell its famed boozy milkshakes, but the addition of alcohol will no doubt give the place a competitive edge over the rest of the fry guys. The remaining six Wahlburgers will open in Manhattan, presumably to optimize their tourist potential.
