Baby names based on chocolate-hazelnut spreads are unacceptable in Valencienne, France, near the Belgian border, where a couple have renamed their daughter Ella after a judge said the name Nutella would invite “mockery or disobliging remarks.” Given the lengths Ferrero SpA goes to protect its Nutella-branded crepes, cookies, and hot chocolates from infringers, it’s probably for the best. Presumably, though, Speculoos is still a name option, even if it doesn’t quite have the same ring.
