New York’s first cat café opens on December 15, and while many New Yorkers are dying to sip cappuccinos with four-legged friends, Ms. Padma Lakshmi is not. Grub caught up with her last night at the Bloomberg Businessweek anniversary party at the American Museum of Natural History, and she hadn’t yet heard of the concept. When we explained, she didn’t sound excited: “Actually, I wouldn’t go there, because my daughter is allergic to cats. And, I’m not sure, but the health codes might not … I just would not go.” Well, that’s one person you won’t have to battle in line in the glorious quest of drinking coffee while nuzzling homeless felines.
