Closed Doughnut Shop Mysteriously Promises to Reopen Without ‘the Skunk’

Stores and restaurants can suddenly close for any number of reasons, so it’s hard to know what really happened at the Inwood outpost of Twin Donut Plus, a chainlet perhaps best known to Cronut-knockoff connoisseurs as the home of the TwiNuts. These things happen, right? Well, things get a little more interesting when you see the sign that was spotted taped to the window yesterday.

One neighborhood resident offered some insight into this mysterious “skunk,” according to the Daily News, writing on Facebok that the term likely “refers to the old guy that ran the place … Let’s just say he was not a very nice man to customers.” Others, however, blame the closure on stale doughnuts and poor customer service.

Whatever it means, know that the store is now skunk-free and will probably be serving TwiNuts again very soon.
