Comic artist Amy Reeder created this heroine for Brooklyn Brewery’s annual New York Comic-Con tie-in beer, called Defender, which is now going into its third year. Brewmaster Garrett Oliver uses red German malt and big, beefy Mosaic hops to make an ale that is as “red as the setting sun” and “as brisk as a tornado,” the brewery says, which is par for the course, we guess, in terms of the tasting notes you get when your beer is superhero-themed.

Reeder herself says she went for a “homegrown vigilante vibe” with her design and chose a costume for her character that would be easy to cosplay. This year’s brew will launch at a Brooklyn Brewery party on Wednesday, one month before the actual convention.
