Further proof that New York’s candy sphere is thriving: Yesterday, the first New York location of Stieber’s Sweet Shoppe soft-opened in the West Village. It’s a wonderland filled with over 400 types of bulk candy, cookies, pastries, and cold-brewed coffee. And what makes this shop even better is that it’s a family-run business: Owner Lee Mann is the niece of Stieber’s founders, Larry and Susan Stieber, who opened the company’s first shop two years ago in Roseville, California. Manne has transformed the space, formerly Bleecker Deli, into one that’s sleek and modern — and not too kiddie or kitschy. You’ll find a wide range of candies here: classics like Jelly Belly and Sour Patch Watermelons, sea-salt caramels, chocolate-covered cherries, and even a selection of trail mixes. Take a look around, straight ahead.
