The 2014 James Beard Foundation Food Conference will take place October 27 and 28 at the Convene Center. This year's theme is "Health & Food: Is Better Food the Prescription for a Healthier America," and, fittingly, speakers include authors and others who routinely take deep dives into these subjects, like Michael Pollan, Mark Bittman, and Laurie David. The conference takes place at the same time as the nonprofit's annual Leadership Awards dinner and ceremony, held at the Hearst Tower. Although it will also be streaming live, tickets for the conference are $500 per guest, with discounted tickets for the Leadership Awards Dinner also available for attendees. [Official site]
