While the restaurateur powerhouse trio of Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi, and Jeff Zalaznick put the finishing touches on Dirty French, their “roughed-up Gallic bistro” at the Ludlow Hotel set to open later this summer, its counterpart Lobby Bar is soft-opening tonight. Thomas Waugh, otherwise known as the guy who serves tequila in a chile pepper at ZZ’s Clam Bar, is behind the bar. As Waugh told Grub in April, the new menu is “modeled after a classic cocktail menu,” but with his signature offbeat style, so that means drinks like the “Muddy Water,” which has Irish whiskey, “cumin-rye,” cinnamon, mole bitters, and an absinthe rinse.
