Ongoing Houston Street construction has taken out pretty much all of the street-side spots where taxi drivers have traditionally pulled over to get a snack and take a break at the Punjabi Grocery & Deli, which has operated around the clock every day for the last two decades. Because of debris and construction materials, business has dropped off, and the dhaba’s proprietors are now petitioning the city to designate a full-fledged taxi relief stand outside their 1st Street storefront, which you can sign here. And if you’ve never gotten an enormous order of dal and roti for $5 at 4 a.m., there’s never been a better time to go. [Avaaz via JVNY]
