Zack Danger Brown’s crowdfunding coup broke $70,000 yesterday, but apparently not all of his 5,000 donors really wanted to back up their pledges. Overnight, the potato-salad Kickstarter dropped $30,000 in funding. Of course, Brown’s still got $45,000, and on the plus side, his tax burden has now shrunk considerably.

Anyhow, even if the guy admits he’s a slacker in the kitchen, he’s an altruistic one. He promises whatever money is left over he’ll “use … to do the most good possible,” telling Mashable he’ll probably team with a homeless shelter or nonprofit in his native Columbus, Ohio. “One thing’s for sure,” he says, “that money will not go in my pocket. Or into my friends’ pockets. This is about something way more than us.”
