Pink Elephant closed two weeks ago, and now an attorney for the Greenwich Village club’s partners says they’ve filed for bankruptcy. No reason was given for the development, but Scott Markowitz, their lawyer, said the partners are trying to “stave off” eviction, adding that the club business is notoriously volatile. “The neighborhood is evolving. It was just too soon to put Pink Elephant there,” he said, adding that the partners are looking to open a second Pink Elephant in Manhattan. Earlier this year it was rumored that the club would open in the old Mars Bar space on Second Avenue. [Crain’s, Related]
