The cocoa paradigm is about to be shattered by Hershey’s announcement of an 8 percent hike on everything it makes, from its namesake bars and syrups to Kit Kats and Kisses. The chocolate company’s entry-level bar has already crept up in some markets, but a several-cent bump will probably help universalize it, to … around $1, and what’s more is that analysts say the effect will carry over to the other major manufacturer’s brands. Still though, a dollar? We thought everything from Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to Snickers started at $2 or $2.50 these days, anyhow. [Reuters]
