Bowlmor Lanes, the old-school bowling alley on University Place that opened as a private club in 1938 and later enjoyed additional acts as a celebrity hot-spot and a franchise operation with outposts across the country, will close today in advance of demolition and construction of what have been described as luxury condominiums. Neighboring restaurants like Bamboo Tori and Stromboli Pizzeria closed earlier, and Japonica, which is part of the same complex, is moving back to its original location in the neighborhood.
