Mountain Bird Closes in Harlem, Owners Plan Relocation

The dainty and vaguely enigmatic Harlem restaurant Mountain Bird, which opened last September with a menu focused squarely on chicken, duck, and other feathered friends has closed. The small restaurant was run by Keiko and Kenichi Tajima, husband-and-wife partners who garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews from Alan Richman at GQ and Joshua David Stein in the Observer. (Our own Underground Gourmet liked the ostrich tartare.) Zagat says “landlord issues” are to blame, while the Tajimas write that the Bird is seeking a new space and they’re signing off for now.
