Metal band Young and in the Way apparently thought it would be way cool to close out its performance of a jam called “Be My Blood” by splattering several gallons of the actual substance onstage and into the audience Sunday night at Asheville’s Lexington Avenue Brewery, but co-owner Mike Healy says no one knew about the stunt in advance and pig’s blood was not part of the band’s rider.

The local health department has said there’s no danger to the public because no blood made its way into the kitchen, but meanwhile, the restaurant’s floorboards are soaked through. Plus, the band members sound like jerks. “After the incident, they took all their equipment and wiped it down and left the place a disaster zone,” Healy says. “There was so much (blood spilled), that we might have to rip out the stage.” [Citizen-Times]
