You’ll recall that the Strand Smokehouse in Astoria was closed after owner Tommy Vasilis had what you might generously call a disagreement with the Health Department and the DOH suspended permits for the barbecue joint and two Bakeway bakeries that Vasilis also owns. Well, good news: The barbecue spot and one of the bakeries have reopened, and Vasilis tells DNAinfo that the second Bakeway location, on 30th Avenue, will do the same after he staffs up.
