The official opening of the Russ & Daughters Café is imminent, and The New Yorker interviewed co-owners Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper about the restaurant's signage (created by Let There Be Neon, which also restored Russ & Daughters' original sign from the mid-1950s). There's some serious smoked-fish food porn, too. "That steady, meditative, focused work of shaping and blowing the glass immediately reminded me of what happens at Russ & Daughters," Federman says. Stay tuned for an opening date — or hang out with Mario Batali, who got early access.
