Looks Like the Original Lenox Lounge May Not Reopen for a While

While Nobu managing partner Richie Notar’s forthcoming jazz club in the former home of Lenox Lounge in Harlem targets a fall opening, the iconic bar’s longtime owner Alvin Reed tells the Post that his plans to relocate the original Lenox Lounge to a new space just blocks away are increasingly beset with uncertainties. “We’re kind of close to running out of funds. We’re looking for more investors,” Reed says. He adds that the space at 333 Lenox Avenue currently lacks a certificate of occupancy, which is never good, and, meanwhile, Reed and his partners may also be annexing the vacant pizza place next door to add to the revived Lenox Lounge’s square footage, but again, investors are needed. Sounds like it’s time for a jazzy Kickstarter. [NYP, Related]
