Terrifying: Thousands of People Potentially Exposed to Hep-A at Red Robin

Uh-oh.
Uh-oh.

Diners this past month at a Red Robin in Missouri may have unfortunately been exposed to hepatitis A. The burger chain isn’t saying what duties the infected worker had — Was it the hostess in front? Dude preparing desserts? — in any case, it’s bad news, exposure-wise, for the 5,000 who ate there between May 8 and May 16, particularly those who have not been vaccinated against the disease. The health department is shipping 4,000 doses of hep A vaccine to an ad hoc clinic inside Springfield’s concert venue. The total number of exposed patrons may be “many thousands more,” however, KSPR reports, because the infected worker was apparently in regular contact with food for several months. [CNN, KSPR]
