The corporate behemoth has joined forces with Wild Oats, an organic food label that makes pantry items like tomato paste, chicken broth, and applesauce. Surprisingly, Walmart’s planning to sell the new organic products for the same price as non-organic goods — at least at first — and undercut organic competitors by at least 25 percent. (It’s a great PR move, too.) Not to be outdone, Target announced this week that it too will expand its organic offerings. Stay tuned for the imminent gluten-free food war. [NYT]
