Top Chef Extreme Got a New, Far Less Extreme Title

Bravo sends word that Top Chef Extreme, which you may remember pits Top Chef and Top Chef Masters chefs against one another, has been rechristened as Top Chef Duels. (The concept, however, remains the same, and as extreme as ever.) Curtis Stone will host; Gail Simmons, Hugh Acheson, Wolfgang Puck, and “special guests” will all judge; and the winner gets a $100,000 prize. Also of note: Bravo gave the go-ahead to its revamp of Gordon Ramsay’s British series Ramsay’s Best Restaurant. In the new American show, simply called Best New Restaurant, Tom Colicchio and a “trusted team of experts” will “pit 16 of the nation’s hottest new restaurants against each other in a series of challenges aimed at determining who provides the best all-around, top-to-bottom experience.” Don’t count on Guy Fieri’s new Vegas restaurant making the cut.
