Maiden Lane’s Birthday Party; Industry Night at Maialino

Condé Nast Traveler just announced its “2014 Hot List,” which this year included a Best New Food Hotels category. Winners included Charleston’s Zero George Street and Chicago’s the Thompson. [Grub Street]

Maiden Lane will celebrate its first birthday on April 26 with a party from noon to 2 a.m. featuring grilled oysters, whole sardines, sausages, drink specials, and live music. [Grub Street]

Maialino will host another industry night on May 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. Offerings will include suckling pig tacos al pastor, Mexican corn alla Romana, and a Paloma drink made with grapefruit cordial, lime, tequila, and soda. [Grub Street]

El Rey Coffee Bar and Luncheonette has launched a bimonthly baking class series. Its first class, on May 6, will teach guests how to make the shop’s sweet potato and aleppo-spiced pecan bread. Classes are free, and you can RSVP here.
