Grant Achatz Says Alinea Will Pop Up in New York City in October

Following in the footsteps of his "World's 50 Best Restaurants" list peers René Redzepi, Heston Blumenthal, and the brothers Roca, who've all made plans to take their Michelin-bedazzled restaurants on the road this year, Grant Achatz says to expect his New York pop-up to be open "for a very short amount of time, undetermined but likely a month, maybe more." The Alinea chef and owner implies that unlike his 2012 Freaky Friday–esque switcheroo with Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park, this one will not be a restaurant takeover, but a kind of extended residence. Other details are scarce, but Achatz says Alinea New York will open somewhere uptown, starting in October. "This is very much a test," he says, hinting at even more pop-ups. "Why not take it on the road?" [Fine Dining Lovers via Eater, Related]
